Drop off your recycling as frequently or infrequently as you need – it only takes a few minutes.

Impactful

Taking out your own recycling helps you see how much waste you really generate – one of the best motivators to reduce your waste production altogether.

More details

Drop-off sites

Lincoln is currently in the process of consolidating current recycling sites down to 4-5 final sites. These sites have a much larger capacity, and are better lit and maintained than the original sites. See the list of guaranteed final sites below, or visit the link at the bottom of this page to find your closest recycling drop-off site:

  • Lewis Ball Field
  • East High School
  • North 48th St.
  • 27th and Tamarin Rd.
Accepted materials

General materials accepted at Lincoln recycling sites include:

  • Paper & newspaper
  • Cardboard & paperboard
  • Plastics #1-5
  • Cans
  • Glass bottles and jars (not accepted for recycling pick-up)
Other materials: “What bin does it go in?”

The City of Lincoln has put together a tool on their website called “Which bin does it go in?” This tool allows you to type in most materials (including things such as batteries and clothing), and search by where you can most sustainably dispose of a product – including both public and private recycling opportunities in Lincoln.

Nebraska Recycling Council – recycling guide

If the “What bin does it go in?” tool doesn’t work for you, there’s one last resource – the Nebraska Recycling Council’s recycling guide. Similar to the above tool, this guide allows you to search by material or object (such as mattresses), and lists all (or most) of the places in Nebraska where that object can be donated or recycled.
